Find Your BosunCloud Size

Measure the beam of your boat about 12 inches forward of the mast (or wherever you want the aft edge of the BosunCloud to sit when suspended). We size by the aft FRAME width (outside tube width at the aft corners). Choose the largest model whose aft frame width is less than your measured beam minus clearance on each side. If you plan to allow lateral swing with a single forward centerline line, add a small swing margin per side.

Tip: Maintain 2–4″ of clearance per side between the BosunCloud frame and lifelines, stanchions, or shrouds so the frame never contacts fixed structures. If you prefer a guaranteed walk-by path beside the frame, set a minimum walk-by width per side below. For extra comfort at anchor, you may secure the BosunCloud with a single forward line to a centerline point so it can pendulum-swing laterally and soften roll.

Important: Fit is based on the aft frame width (outside tube-to-tube at the aft corners), which is slightly wider than the aft mesh width.

Step 1 — Measure

  1. At ~12″ forward of the mast (or your intended aft edge), measure the inside distance between lifelines. If you have inboard shrouds, measure between shrouds.
  2. Note any obstructions (stanchions, gate braces, toe rails, windlass, anchor locker lid, hatches) and ensure they remain clear.
  3. If you plan to allow lateral swing (single forward centerline tie), ensure there’s enough outboard space so a gentle swing won’t touch lifelines or hardware.

If your preferred aft position isn’t exactly 12″ forward of the mast, measure at the exact position you intend to use.

Step 2 — Check what fits

(typical side deck is ~10–16″)

Frame Width vs. Mesh Width

Each BosunCloud frame is slightly wider than its mesh area because the stainless tube corners extend beyond the net. The sizing calculator above already uses the aft frame width.

Just measure your clear beam where the aft corners will sit; the calculator handles the rest.
