Our story began when we decided to spend more time exploring life on the water. David — an engineer, licensed boat captain, and lifelong tinkerer — and Vanessa — with a background in sales, marketing, and non-profits — had always wanted to build something that combined our passions. We just didn’t know what that was until we decided to move onto a monohull sailboat full time and began to wonder how we were going to duplicate the comfort of our king-size pillow-top bed on the deck.

Our time on the water in monohulls over the years has brought endless inspiration — but one thing stood out: there was no comfortable way to enjoy the foredeck. Between hatches, vents, fittings, slopes, and storage limitations, standard furniture simply didn’t cut it. We wanted a solution that didn’t just work — it had to make sense for life on a boat. So we started building.

The idea seemed simple enough, but good execution took some work.

1. It had to: Assemble and disassemble quickly and without tools
2. Collapse small for easy storage
3. Handle an unforgiving marine environment
4. Be as comfortable as a cloud couch or pillow-top bed
5. Look right at home on a sailboat

After a lot of prototypes, testing, and refining, we found our answer: a suspended lounge that lives on the foredeck, ready when you are.

The BosunCloud was born.
